iWay Adapter for Ariba
The iWay Adapter for Ariba allows an organization to fully integrate its Ariba Value Chain Management (VCM) application systems (Ariba Buyer, Ariba Commerce Services Network, and Ariba Sourcing) with virtually any other legacy system, DBMS, ERP, SCM, or CRM application on any platform. Flexible and Easy to Use
Point-to-point computing environments are often restrictive, providing very little flexibility for change. Also, as the computing environment expands to include legacy systems, ERP packages, SCM packages, CRM packages, EDI, B2B, and the Internet, the cost and complexity of the application integration maintenance grows. In some cases, the point-to-point solution cannot be expanded at all, forcing the integration to be reengineered. By using the iWay Adapter for Ariba Technologies in combination with iWay Adapter Manager and associated supported application servers and message brokers, true integration of Ariba with all your various disparate applications is not only possible, it is downright easy. Supported environments include IBM WebSphere, IBM WebSphere MQ Integrator, Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft Commerce Server, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS InterConnect.

How It Works
The iWay eBusiness XML Adapter integrates with Ariba applications using event listeners that capture real-time events, based on PunchOut HTTP or JMS interfaces, from external systems and within the Ariba applications fields. The adapter uses HTTP, IBM MQSeries, Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ), Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ), TCP/IP, or SOAP for transport and a combination of XML and Java application interfaces. Transaction interaction with Ariba Buyer, Ariba Dynamic Trade, Ariba Sourcing, and Ariba Commerce Services Network (CSN) is through EJB interfaces running under an external J2EE application server such as BEA WebLogic or IBM WebSphere. Both xCML and CIF formats are supported for data interchange.
Maximum Interoperability
The iWay Adapter Manager has full support for Commerce XML (xCML) 1.2 and OAGIS BOD XML standards that are integrated across the Ariba product line. cXML is a streamlined protocol intended for consistent communication of business documents between procurement applications, e-commerce hubs and suppliers. The iWay Adapter Manager transforms the incoming cXML or Java objects to an iWay XML request document that is then converted to the desired output type. The XML request document is the connection into the iWay Adapter infrastructure allowing integration of countless back-end database platforms, transaction systems, and application environments, such as CICS, IMS, Tuxedo, SAP; as well as a number of XML and non-XML formats including cXML, xCBL, ebXML, SAP IDoc, OAG BOD, SQL, ANSI X.12 EDI, UN/EDIFACT EDI, SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA. For example, suppliers can map internal formats, ANSI X.12 EDI, and EDIFACT EDI messages into xCML for code-free integration into the Ariba CSN or Ariba applications.
