The iWay Adapter for BroadVision is an easy-to-use solution that simplifies integration of BroadVision One-To-One based applications with virtually any other system. Whether you are moving transactions or data into or out of BroadVision, the iWay adapter for BroadVision eliminates the need to write and maintain point-to-point interfaces between BroadVision and other application systems, transaction systems, EDI networks, and legacy data stores.
Flexible and Easy to Use
Point-to-point computing environments are often restrictive, providing very little flexibility for change. Also, as the computing environment expands to include legacy systems, ERP packages, SCM packages, CRM packages, EDI networks, B2B exchanges, and the Internet, the cost and complexity of the application integration maintenance grows. In some cases, the point-to-point solution cannot be expanded at all, forcing the integration to be re-engineered. By using the iWay Adapter for BroadVision Technologies in combination with iWay Service Manager, true integration of BroadVision with all your various disparate applications is not only possible, it is downright easy. Supported environments include IBM WebSphere, IBM WebSphere MQ Integrator, Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft Commerce Server, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS InterConnect. The iWay Adapter for BroadVision provides a common development environment for all enterprise integration projects that integrates real-time and near real-time (event-driven) transactions from BroadVision applications to non-BroadVision environments. The technology supports BroadVision's 6.0 use of XML and Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) services, and also utilizes native BroadVision C++ CORBA application functionality (Content Manager, Interaction Manager, and Generic DB Accessor).
The iWay Intelligent Adapter for BroadVision is part of the iWay Universal Adapter Suite, which makes it easy to integrate and reuse virtually any applications, data, or other information technologies.
Maximum Flexibility
Integration is provided with Java JMS, HTTP, IBM MQSeries, Microsoft MSMQ, Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ), TCP/IP, and SOAP protocols. J2EE services are hosted by the J2EE container server that a BroadVision customer implementation has selected, including BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, and iPlanet. The iWay Service Manager maps XML events into and from the J2EE environment without requiring any Java coding or special integration in the message broker environment. Developers use GUI tools (iWay XML Transformation Workbench) to map XML requests into calls that are executed against BroadVision EJBs or CORBA C++ services.
The iWay Adapter for BroadVision is integrated with the iWay Service Manager, which communicates with Java JMS, HTTP, IBM MQSeries, Microsoft Message Queueing, Oracle AQ, TCP/IP, or SOAP protocols. The adapter handles both the creation of and the conversion from the BroadVision-supported Java Messaging Service (JMS) formats and XML formats.
How It Works
In the case of an incoming BroadVision event, the format adapter "listens" for standard BroadVision events on an iWay listener. These JMS events are "trigger" processes within BroadVision, and occur as a result of a business event in the One-to-One environment. The iWay format adapter then converts the incoming document into the appropriate output adapter document based on an iWay XML request format. The iWay Service Manager will format these XML documents into a number of XML and non-XML formats, including cXML, xCBL, ebXML, SAP IDoc, OAG BOD, SQL, ANSI X.12 EDI, UN/EDIFACT EDI, SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA.
Increased Interoperability
This is a significant improvement over BroadVision's B2B XML interface because the iWay adapter technology integrates proprietary non-XML data and EDI data formats, as well as the XML-defined data with BroadVision 6.0 Business and Retail Commerce modules. The iWay adapter also provides transforming, formatting, and enrichment capabilities that do not exist with BroadVision B2B Gateway. It should also be noted that the BroadVision B2B XML interface is UNIX based and provides no direct integration with Web Services, Microsoft .NET services, or BizTalk Server 2000. The iWay Adapter for BroadVision provides a very effective bridge between BroadVision applications and .NET.
The Application Systems Adapter for BroadVision is designed specifically to provide open access to BroadVision application systems, using native BroadVision 5.5 C++ and Broadvision 6.0 Java APIs running under a J2EE container server. In addition to the native interface to the BroadVision Interaction Manager, BroadVision Generic Database Services, or customized Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), the application adapter can also utilize XML where this is supported in the specific customized BroadVision application implementations or Java modules such as Business Commerce and Retail Commerce. The underlying Java interfaces are supported by the iWay Service Manager or COM/Java JCA connectors without requiring any custom Java coding. Adapter Benefits
The iWay adapter technologies offer developers these advantages:
-
Rapid creation and integration of B2B transactions using XML or non-XML EDI formats such as ANSI X.12, UN/EDIFACT, and SWIFT
- Extend packaged and e-business applications systems based on Java, XML, SOAP, and Web Services without requiring any custom coding
- Reduce the cost in extending packaged applications into a B2B trading partner management based on standards such as ebXML and Web Services
- Provide a common development environment integrated inside of multiple message brokers and application servers
- Uniform XML Interface for all packaged applications thus reducing the requirement for specific packaged applications native API knowledge
- Bidirectional adapter functionality to automate integrated event-driven input capability to integrate real-time transactions
- Document conversion from proprietary XML to standard XML, EDI formats, SQL, and RPCs to other application systems
- Protects investment in legacy databases, ERP, CRM, SCM, and homegrown "legacy" applications modules
