The iWay Adapter for i2 allows an organization to fully integrate its i2 Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Rightworks, and Content Management application systems with virtually any other legacy system, DBMS, ERP, SCM, or CRM application on any platform. Flexible and Easy to Use

Point-to-point computing environments are often restrictive, providing very little flexibility for change. Also, as the computing environment expands to include legacy systems, ERP packages, SCM packages, CRM packages, EDI, B2B, and the Internet, the cost and complexity of the application integration maintenance grows. In some cases, the point-to-point solution cannot be expanded at all, forcing the integration to be reengineered. By using the iWay Adapter for i2 Technologies in combination with iWay Service Manager and supported application servers and message brokers, true integration of i2 with all your various disparate applications is not only possible, it is downright easy. Supported environments include IBM WebSphere, IBM WebSphere MQ Integrator, Microsoft BizTalk Server, Microsoft Commerce Server, Oracle 9iAS, and Oracle 9iAS InterConnect.

How It Works

iWay integration is achieved using i2's TradeMatrix API (TMAPI) that enables electronic marketplaces to dynamically integrate and recombine their business partnerships to reflect changing customer requirements, market conditions, supply and demand variations, partner alliance connections, or price-driven auctions. i2's TMAPI provides the conduit into the i2 TradeMatrix environment for these marketplaces, ensuring that any enterprise can participate in the eMarketplaces that are developed on i2, without having to have i2 applications installed in the enterprise. The iWay Adapter for i2 also provides integration from internal systems (such as homegrown CICS applications, Oracle applications, or SAP R/3 e-procurement application) into the i2 TradeMatrix Open Commerce Network (OCN), based on Java and common XML standards (OAG BOD, iWay XML or SOAP WSDL formatted) and the ability to transform XML and non-XML transactions into well-formatted TmXML documents.

Maximum Interoperability

In the case of a business event initiated by i2, the iWay i2 XML eBusiness "listens" for events using TradeMatrix XML messaging interface (TmXML). These events are "trigger" processes within i2 and occur as a result of a business event in the SCM system that is placed on an IBM MQSeries, MSMQ, or Oracle AQ queue or communicated over HTTP, TCP/IP, or SOAP protocols. The iWay Service Manager transforms the incoming i2 message to an iWay XML formatted request document that is then converted to the desired output type. The iWay XML request document is the connection into the iWay infrastructure, allowing integration of countless back-end platforms, systems, and application environments, such as CICS, IMS, Tuxedo, and SAP. The iWay Service Manager will transform these XML documents into a number of XML and non-XML formats, including cXML, xCBL, ebXML, BizTalk, SAP IDoc, OAG BOD, SQL, ANSI X.12 EDI, UN/EDIFACT EDI, SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA.

The Application Systems Adapter for i2 supports integration with i2 via Active Data Warehouse (ADW), Common Data Models (CDM), and the Java TradeMatrix API. The Application Systems Adapter interfaces directly with the i2 metadata and utilizes native i2 business objects and functionality. It provides open access to i2 applications from any other application or data. The Application Systems Adapter connects to i2's TradeMatrix Java API (TMAPI) and complies with the metadata formats specified by i2 applications. The iWay adapter does not require any Java coding and supports both BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere application servers. The iWay XML documents provide an interface that isolates the developer from the underlying complexities of i2 and Rightworks' use of Java EJB technology.
