Interface Reusability
All interfaces created with iWay adapters are reusable across any of the standards, platforms, and technologies that the iWay Universal Adapter Suite supports. Mission-critical systems that run the business and have withstood the test of time are often irreplaceable. The business will always push down requirements that require the use of new functionality, yet also requires interfacing with old technology. The iWay Universal Adapter Suite loosely couples service interfaces from the platforms they are deployed to. This guarantees that interfaces created on platform ABC today, will work on platform XYZ tomorrow – even if XYZ has not yet been invented.

If you create an order entry interface for an integration application on J2EE using JCA, another department that uses a different platform can reuse that interface using .NET. Interfaces generated for one integration broker are reusable when another integration broker enters the environment through a merger or acquisition. Any interface is reusable by any supported platform technology. This reusability enables the business to rapidly adjust process-enabling technologies when business demands require process changes.
The iWay Universal Adapter Suite is open and platform agnostic. Whether you use .NET, J2EE, Web services, or a combination of all three as your application framework, iWay delivers the most flexible, secure, and reusable approach for integrating your mission-critical enterprise information assets.
iWay Software supports the following platforms, standards, and frameworks:
Web Services
The iWay Universal Adapter Suite supports deployment of any generated interface as a Web service. Using the Application Explorer, Web services are generated with a couple of clicks and can be deployed into the iWay Business Services Provider framework. The adapter suite will generate a WSDL document that describes the service, optionally save the WSDL to a UDDI directory, and bind the service via a SOAP call or a WSIF JCA call.
J2EE Application Platform Suites
iWay Software supports all the major J2EE platforms – including their integration brokers, application servers, and portals. Because we have tight development and sales relationships with vendors like BEA, IBM, Oracle, and Sun, your company might already be using iWay adapters on your J2EE platform. The iWay Universal Adapter Suite supports key J2EE specifications such as JCA 1.5 for inbound and outbound communication and JMS for messaging. There is built-in support for Web Services Invocation Framework (WSIF), which enables a JCA binding for Web services. More detailed information about our support for key vendor platforms and J2EE specifications is available here.

.NET and the Microsoft Platform
The iWay Universal Adapter Suite has robust support for the Microsoft Platform. iWay interfaces can be easily used within Visual Studio .NET, with Microsoft Vista, and through Microsoft BizTalk Server. Tooling for Microsoft BizTalk is native to .NET and interfaces can be called as .NET assemblies or as Web services.
Message Queuing Systems and Transport Protocols
iWay Software customers do not have to employ redundant messaging and transport technology to work with its adapters. Channels and Services are loosely coupled in the adapter suite, enabling generated interfaces to be bound to any queuing system or protocol. Messages through the adapter suite can be listened for and emitted to, using key industry queuing systems and protocols such as WebSphere MQ, Tibco Rendezvous, JMS, Sonic MQ, MSMQ, ebMS, AS1, AS2, AS3, HTTPS, Oracle AQ, and more.
ESBs, Integration Brokers, and Business Process Management Tools
iWay Software provides two complementary approaches towards EAI. First, iWay has its own Enterprise Service Bus, which can be used for transformation, intelligent routing, process orchestration, and adaptation. Second, iWay Software provides service-generating capabilities with its adapters and composite service-generating tools that will plug into integration vendors through either their proprietary integration hooks or through open standards.
Business Intelligence Platforms
The business intelligence (BI) market is becoming more and more about operational and real-time reporting, which does not allow time to extract, transform, and load information from operational systems to data warehouses and datamarts. BI platforms, like WebFOCUS, can use adapters that are specially enhanced for BI performance to generate reports that give managers and workers insight into situations occurring in real time so they can be handled pro-actively.
Data Integration Servers
The ability to get to multiple disparate data sources from a common client and provide a common view of an enterprise fact, like customers, is critical. In addition, ETL tools must access multiple target systems when loading a data warehouse. The iWay Universal Adapter Suite works inside many leading data integration servers like iWay DataMigrator, iWay Data Hub, IBM DB2 Information Integrator, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Transparent Gateway, BEA Liquid Data, and Ascential DataStage.
Tomorrow's Platforms
Because of iWay's common GUI tools and reusable architecture, tomorrow's platform decisions will not be inhibited by today's interface design. We know that standards and technological capabilities will change. What will the core platforms be in 2014? Interfaces to mission-critical systems that are created with the iWay Universal Adapter Suite today will work on the systems purchased tomorrow.
